Another Voters Meeting at Bethany

June 23rd, 2008 by lucasjs

This Sunday , after the late service, Bethany Alexandria had another voters meeting. We elected a new slate of officers and took care of several items of business.

There were two items that touched on outreach and the Ablaze! movement in the place where God has planted us.

The first item was a proposal to form and sponsor a cub scout den. During our walks in the community one of the most often expressed things that people said the Church could do to help in the neighborhood was to provide an alternative to gangs, or some kind of activity for the neighborhood youth.

The other item was that our Pastor opened up the beginning of the official public discussion of what Ablaze! might look like at Bethany. More to come as it developes.

Taking AIM at Outreach

June 23rd, 2008 by lucasjs

This Saturday several members of the African Immigrant Ministry (AIM) at Bethany in Alexandria took a training class in Door-to-Door Evangelism. A couple of these members, Minister Joseph Davis, and Edward Gray, have been long term participants in our outreach program already…, but this class further increased their understanding of why we do things the way we do. It was a good session with a lot of discussion and positive interaction. I pray that the Lord uses what we learned to grow His Kingdom.
